The Australian software company have been around for a while but are still relatively small in the industry, supplying NextGen Casino games to only a select range of online casinos including major brands like Gala Casino and InterCasino.
NextGen Gaming are fully licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and the Gibraltar Gaming Commission.
NextGen Gaming Casino Games
Despite releasing over 600 games, you might be disappointed to learn that NextGen Gaming aren’t as recognisable as its peers in the casino software world. Perhaps their most famous offering is the Foxin’ Wins slot which spurned a sequel called Foxin’ Wins Again. The only other games of note are King Kong, Merlin’s Millions, Doctor Love, and 300 Shields.
For a company that focuses on its slot games, you would expect more big names. The reason there aren’t many could be attributed to a lack of any real uniqueness. The graphics are usually average and they don’t go for top quality 3D graphics or franchised media games. This unfortunately limits the appeal of their games in the mass market. NextGen Gaming rarely make a bad game, but equally, rarely make an outstanding one either.
NextGen Gaming Mobile Casinos
Perhaps one of the things that has limited the appeal of NextGen Gaming titles is their initial lethargy towards mobile technology. While their competitors were developing games in HTML5, NextGen Gaming were still using Flash which made them difficult to play on mobile or tablet.
To their credit, they have started making amends and now actively use HTML5 to ensure compatibility with the latest devices. But they are still playing catch-up on some of their more tech-savvy rivals so only time will tell whether NextGen Gaming can live up to their futuristic name.
NextGen Gaming’s History
Starting life in Australia in 1999, NextGen Gaming were a small and relatively unknown company until NYX Interactive acquired them in 2011. NYX were already making waves in the industry and suddenly NextGen Gaming were thrust into the limelight with them.
NYX’s acquisition undoubtedly gave NextGen Gaming new impetus to create and since 2011, they have been more proactive in keeping up with the latest technology. This has helped their game offering with significant improvements and a rise in their stock. Here’s what NextGen Gaming say on their website:
“To always strive to create games that deliver extraordinary entertainment and quality – with integrity and in collaboration with our partners.”
All that hard work paid off when they won the RNG Casino Supplier of the Year Award in 2013. Along with a few other awards, that means they are ones to keep an eye on. If they continue with that upward trajectory, NextGen Gaming will surely become a bigger player in the online casino industry and turn average into extraordinary.
